It's an Award Winner!

At the 2012 Efficiency Vermont Better Buildings By Design Conference, the house was awarded the "Best of the Best" honor award for Comprehensive Energy category. The final figures for 2011 indicated that the house generated more power than it used. My electric meter (I am tied to the grid) indicates that I could have burned less than the 1.75 cords last winter and still achieved net zero. Still it's nice keeping my meter well below 0000 for most of the year.

Used in Efficiency VT talk

After about 1/2 year went by, my builders and energy guru gave a talk at Efficiency Vermont's Green Homebuilding conference. This is the view of the south side of the house, with the Photo Voltaics all in place on the roof. The smaller two panels on the right side of the roof are for hot water.

Here's the view from the top of the driveway, looking at the north side (main entrance) to the house, and the west side of the garage/barn

Here are photos taken on May 13, 2010. The exterior is pretty much finished. The views are from the south, before the solar panels are installed on the roof.
